Obby received a Bachelor's degree in Civic Education from the Faculty of Social Science
Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (Bandung, Indonesia). Then, he completed his Master of Education degree in Civic Education at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in 2017.Subsequently, he received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the Educational Foundation and Humanities Department, Faculty of Education, University of Malaya in 2025. His expertise is in service learning, civic education, moral education, character education, and global citizenship.

He has been selected to attend some international relation projects and conferences are
aligned with his research in Harvard University (Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States), University College London, (London, United Kingdom), Joetsu University of Education (Niigata, Japan), University of Vienna (Vienna, Austria), National Institute of Education (Singapore), Hongkong Polytechnic University, and Tampere University in Finland. He has collaborated with colleagues from various universities, both nationally and internationally, to publish papers in several National and International journals indexed by Sinta or Scopus, as well as two books. In addition, he has been selected as a recipient of the Sylff Research Grant (SRG) 2024 and the Sylff Leadership Initiatives (SLI) 2025. Additionally, he has been recognized as a recipient of the Civic Education Alumni Association's award for the most active education speaker (2023-2024). Furthermore, in 2025, he has published four articles in some indexed Scopus journals & some articles in international and national journals, and two books with ISBNs.
