                                    Technology, University of Coimbra

I am a Master’s student in Informatics Engineering at the University of Coimbra, conducting research in Artificial Intelligence with a focus on fairness and the responsible evaluation of large language models. My academic path began in Data-Centric AI, where I developed a novel cross-validation methodology aimed at improving data representativity in machine learning systems, leading to a patent application. This work shaped my broader interest in how data design and evaluation choices affect the reliability, robustness, and fairness of AI systems.
I am currently a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Notre Dame, developing my Master’s thesis under the supervision of Professor Nitesh Chawla at the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society. My research examines how large language models can be more rigorously evaluated and responsibly applied to complex textual data, including social media discourse.
This work reflects a broader commitment to advancing AI systems that integrate technical rigor with fairness and social accountability, contributing to technological progress that promotes equity and mitigates structural inequalities in digitally mediated environments.
