Alonso Belaúnde Degregori (Peru, 1991) holds a Master's degree in Asian and African Studies with a major in Japanese Studies from El Colegio de México, where he was a Sylff Fellow during the period 2019-2021. He studied Humanities with a major in Theoretical and Critical Studies in Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), where he works as lecturer and researcher at the Center for Oriental Studies (CEO-PUCP), in charge of Japanese literature seminars. He also coordinates various academic activities related to Japanese Studies since 2022: the Center for Oriental Studies' winning projects of the Grant Program for Japanese Studies Project, funded by
Japan Foundation, and the Japanese Studies International Week. He is also a member of the Research Group José León Herrera/Asian Studies of Peru (JLH/EAP) of this center, and a member of the Latin American Association of Asian and African Studies, Peru section (ALADAA Peru), in which he was Secretary for the period 2018-2022. He is co-founder and professor of writing workshops in the teaching project Escuela de Haiku Retama, focused on haiku creation workshops, through which he has co-edited three haiku anthologies. He has also published the poetry books Río Javier Prado (2016), Temporada de lúcumas (2016) and El circuito de la ensenada (2019). Recently, he has been chosen as a Japanese Government MEXT Research Student and will begin his research student period at the University of Tsukuba, Japan, in April 2025. His research is focused in the self-portrait in the haiku poetics of Masaoka Shiki.

2022-Present: Lecturer, researcher and coordinator of the Center for Oriental Studies, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. Professor of Japanese Literature seminars and coordinator of academic projects regarding Japanese Studies.
2022-Present: Founder, co-director and professor of the haiku school "Retama. Escuela de Haiku" centered in Lima, Perú. Co-editor of haiku anthologies, product of poetry workshops organized by this school.
