Katarzyna Witkowska-Mozdzierz

Jagiellonian University

Law

Received Sylff Fellowship in 2016.
Academic supervisor: Prof. dr hab. Piotr Kardas
Academic achievements, social engagement initiatives:
Ph. D. In law (2017, honors degree); Co-founder of #nowoczesnaadwokatura initiative (an initiative that assembles young attorneys-at-law who are members of Regional Bar Association in Cracow); Laureate of Rising Stars - Lawyers Leaders of Tomorrow 2016 award (Wolters Kluwer and Dziennik Gazeta Prawna award for the most promising young Polish lawyers)

My main research field is criminal law and criminal procedure. In my doctoral dissertation entitled „Model of criminal procedure versus justice, fairness and effectiveness of criminal proceedings” I analyzed criminal procedure in systemic, holistic approach. I also work as an attorney-at-law in Cracow (Poland) and I have substantial experience in litigation and dispute resolution, especially in white collar crime cases. I co-found and take part in many social initiatives, especially those organized within Regional Bar Association. I also take part in charity runs.

I am currently preparing an application for the SLI program. I would like to undertake an initiative that minimizes the effects of internal (domestic) and external (foreign) migration on local communities in smaller cities and towns in Poland.
