Marcela Menachem Zoufala

Marcela Zoufalá is a lecturer and researcher (Centre for the Study of the Holocaust and Jewish Literature) at Charles University (CUNI). She is the co-founder of the Prague Centre for Jewish Studies and founder of Israel Week Annual series at CUNI. She received her Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from CUNI and her doctoral dissertation, based on 2-years field-research in Israel, analyzed the impact of orthodox religious authorities on Israeli women. The result of this stay was a monograph /Judaismus a ženy v Izraeli/ (Judaism and Women in Israel). Currently she works on collective monograph entitled Being Jewish in Central Europe Today, DeGruyter, 2019 and co-ordinates large international research project 'United in Diversity' - An Interdisciplinary Study of Contemporary European Jewry and Its Reflection. Marcela was a visiting research fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem 2009-2010. In 2014 and 2016, she has been awarded Masaryk Distinguished Chair in Israel. In 2015, she became a research fellow of Summer Institute for Israel Studies of Schusterman Center at Brandeis University and research fellow of the Kantor Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry at Tel Aviv University.
