Marcia Ruiz Pulgar is a third-year Economics PhD candidate at the
University of Michigan. Her research areas are labor and
development economics, with a focus on gender, social norms, and
immigration. She combines administrative data with field
experiments in Latin America and East Africa to design scalable
interventions that advance equity and inform policy.

Marcia Ruiz Pulgar's academic record includes fellowships and
honors such as the ISR 2025 Next Generation Fellowship, the
Marshall Weinberg Population, Development and Climate Change
Fellowship, the SYLFF Fellowship, Research in Color fellowship, and
