Mariam Elashmawy is a Researcher at Alternative Policy Solutions and the associate editor at SHARP News. She is also a Teaching Assistant at the American University in Cairo, where she obtained her BA in Political Science with a Minor in Anthropology. She is currently pursuing an MA in Arabic Studies, with a concentration in Middle East History, at AUC. For her MA thesis, she is currently working on a book history from the pre-modern period to the 19th/20th century to examine the intellectual history of different mediums, i.e. manuscript and print, and their reception history in different periods.
