Academic supervisor : Dr. Rajarshi Dasgupta
Current affiliation : Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi

Nivash Prakash is currently Doctoral candidate at the Centre for Political Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University. His doctoral work is a multidisciplinary ethnographic study of an informal settlement in South Delhi that houses a growing number of Migrant labour. Other than exploring the impact of government policies, he also looks at how unprecedented crises like pandemics and climate-induced changes such as heat waves impact their health, economic conditions, daily civic amenities facilities and everyday politics. The focus area of his research is the ongoing Migrant Labor crisis and daily wage earners working in the informal sector, especially in the capital city of Delhi. Nivash looks forward to understanding and working on the emerging contemporary questions related to migrant labour and the urban poor population, especially in light of the Pandemic and seasonal heatwave, a significantly less examined aspect of climate change.
