Parichehr Kazemi is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at the University of Oregon researching social movements and digital media with a focus on Iran. Her dissertation looks at the role of digital images in Iranian women’s protests to discriminatory gender policies, analyzing the dynamic relationship between movement and state that shapes this medium of dissent. She has written about her research for online publications including “The Conversation” and “Mobilizing Ideas” and speaks regularly at international events including the UN’s CSW67 this past year. Before starting her PhD, Parichehr worked in philanthropy and labor organizing, two passions she continues to be involved in today.
