Academic achievements, social engagement initiatives:
I have studied Sociology  (B.A. & M.A.) and Women's Studies (Mphil & PhD) from Presidency College, Calcutta, Delhi School of Economics, and Jadavpur University respectively. My areas of interest lie in the interface of gender, development and human rights.

Since 2005 I have been asscoiated with the development sector. I have worked as a Senior Researcher for ActionAid India and Jadavpur University on a range of topics such as gender,education,  health, sexuality and human rights. I have worked in academia and social sector. Currently, as Assistant Professor I conduct gender-based taining programs for government and public sector officials and undertake research in the domain of gender and public policy. 

 I was awarded the Sylff Research Award in 2009 for my doctoral project. As part of SRA I visited Howard University, USA and American University in Cairo, Egypt. Focus of my field visits was to to understand the global discussions on AIDS communication and role played by different faith leaders as health educators. Thereafter in 2010 I was selected for a young scholar's leadership program entitled 'Building a Better Asia'which was held in Bangkok. I also got the opportunity to present my doctoral research in the Sylff Administrators' Meet held in Beppu City in 2010.
