Upasna Mishra is a PhD Research Scholar and Teaching Assistant at the School of International Relations and Strategic Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, and a Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF) Fellow. Her doctoral research examines the geopolitics and geoeconomics of critical minerals, with particular interest in their supply chains, strategic autonomy, economic security, and their implications for the changing global order.
She holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Political Science with International Relations from Jadavpur University, securing University Gold Medals for both degrees. She has also completed a Bachelor of Education and qualified the UGC-NET in Political Science with a 98.02 percentile. Her academic interests encompass international relations, geopolitical risk, economic statecraft, critical minerals, technology and global politics, and strategic affairs.
Her research has been published in academic journals and edited volumes, and she has presented her work at national and international academic forums, including the International Political Science Association World Congress in Seoul. She has also contributed opinion editorials on critical minerals, rare earth elements, supply chains, and India's strategic and economic security. Alongside her academic work, she has experience in undergraduate teaching and geopolitical risk analysis, enabling her to connect scholarly research with contemporary policy and strategic challenges.
As a SYLFF Fellow, she seeks to contribute to interdisciplinary scholarship and leadership in international affairs, particularly through research addressing emerging strategic challenges at the intersection of resources, technology, geopolitics, and global economic security.

Upasna Mishra is a PhD Research Scholar and Teaching Assistant at the School of International Relations and Strategic Studies, Jadavpur University. She has demonstrated consistent academic excellence, securing University Gold Medals for both her B.A. in Political Science and M.A. in Political Science with International Relations, along with the Dr. Prithwis Chandra Chakravarti Memorial Silver Medal for securing first position in her M.A. programme. She has also qualified the UGC-NET in Political Science with a 98.02 percentile. Her academic work has been presented at national and international conferences, including the International Political Science Association (IPSA) World Congress in Seoul, and conferences involving institutions and organisations in South Africa, Portugal, Hong Kong, and India. Her research and scholarly engagement focus increasingly on critical minerals, geopolitics, economic security, and international relations. Alongside research and teaching, she has contributed to academic and professional initiatives through workshop coordination, conference organisation, research projects, and policy-oriented activities.
