Current affiliation: University of Palermo

Francesca Barbino is a PhD student in European Studies, curriculum "History of the idea of Europe and European integration", at the University of Palermo, with administrative headquarters in Genoa.
Her research focuses on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) and public policies. Starting from European legislation on the topic of gender equality, the research traces the evolution of the debate, paying particular attention to educational policies, practices and programs promoted at a European institutional level. At the same time, the role of CSE as a potential tool for preventing GBV will be analysed, with a prospective of public policies design and implementation. In 2024, she was awarded of a SYLFF grant throught the "Idea-Azione" Program of Pedro Arrupe Institute in Palermo, It.
