Academic achievements, social engagement initiatives:
I've been a PhD candidate in Modern History at Charles University in Prague since 2017. The topic of my dissertation is "The Image of Britain in Czechoslovak Media Discourses between 1939 and 1948". My further research interests focus on history of mentalities and history from below. As SYLFF fellow I conducted a research at Humboldt University in Berlin in 2019. In 2017, I won the Edvard Beneš Prize for Best Thesis in Modern History. As far as my engagement in public sphere is concerned, I regularly contribute to Czech media with commentaries about contemporary issues. I mainly focus on the affairs of the United Kingdom and reflections of historical events. https://www.linkedin.com/in/johana-k%C5%82usek-828b7266/
