Maria Adelasia Divona*

Dr Divona is a gender expert and public policy analyst. She holds a Ph.D in
Sociology with a major in gender topics from University of Palermo, Italy
(2008). She received her first Sylff fellowship in 2004 while attending the
International Master in Public Policies at Institute of Political Education
"Pedro Arrupe" in Palermo. In 2005 she took part at the Sylff Africa-Europe
Regional Forum held at University of Coimbra, Portugal. In 2006 she was
awarded a Sylff Mobility Program fellowship and went as visiting scholar to
University of California, San Diego, and joined also the Sylff JIP
"Community Energy Initiatives" as a team member. She was one of the 20
fellows selected for the Sylff Workshop 2018-2019.

Dr Divona brings more than 10 years of experience working mainly as
advisor, consultant and researcher for the civilian and the military
environment. Her focus is on topics such as women and conflict, gender
responsive budgeting, and social analysis. She gained military experience
serving as Reserve Officer of the Italian Army inside a NATO HQ, working as
knowledge development social analyst and gender advisor for the
implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda. After leaving her
last military assignment in 2018, she is currently serving at UNDP Namibia
as Gender Technical Advisor, working at the Ministry of Gender Equality and
supporting the Namibian Government on the implementation of the Country’s
gender responsive budgeting.
