SRA2017-2: This SRA project’s purpose is to consolidate an important phase of the thesis development – the theoretical framework. The thesis’ topic is the use of International Law (IL) by civil society actors in protracted conflicts and struggles for self-determination, and the specific SRA project’s topic is the approach to IL that allows for the development of an analysis on practices and uses of IL instruments and institutions by civil society actors – in alternative to analyses that focus only on the state actors, in the IL field. Drafting part of the theoretical chapters is the next stage in the thesis development after the completion of the fieldwork, in September 2018. This stage will include various forms of data collection and access to state-of-the-art discussions, such as interviews with experts in Critical Legal Studies and Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL).
