Ngeow Yeok Meng

Universiti Malaya

Received fellowship: University of Malaya (PhD), 2001

Dr. Ngeow Yeok Meng has over 20 years of teaching, training and facilitating experiences in higher education of Malaysia. As education enthusiast, she is keen on promoting cultural competency as a powerful tool to make connections, to dissolve disagreement and to celebrate differences. Through the creation of a safe, trusting and non-judgmental learning environment, we can enhance, scaffold and support learning. Believing in the changes the young generation can and will make, she continues to cultivate positive attitude among educators and academic leaders, to give and share beyond what “teaching” requires them to accomplish. An inclusive and equitable higher education ultimately promotes lifelong learning, diverse cultures and a competent nation, that is ideal for all talents to flourish at their own pace.
She authored two books and co-edited three, Social Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement: Transforming Societies (Institut Sosial Malaysia, 2016); Bridging the Gap of Cross-Cultural Communication (UM Press, 2011); and Ethnic Relations and Nation Building: The Way Forward (SIRD, 2010). As Editor-in-Chief of JobStreet.com, she authored HR Development: Issues and Challenges (JobStreet.com, 2000) and also 马大女子 (Gemilang Publishing, 1994).
