Robert is a PhD candidate in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and is also a registered pharmacist. Robert’s research interests include health policy and funding, integrated care, and how different health professions interact with each other. His PhD focuses on pharmacists who are working within general practices, which is a relatively new role in New Zealand. He hopes to elucidate what works, what doesn’t, what all the different parties involved think about it, and how the role can further expand to improve the health and well-being of all New Zealanders.

SRA2019-1: Robert's Sylff Research Abroad award will support him to travel to England and meet with the experts and organisations that have been involved with rolling out the national integration of pharmacists into general practice. England has been a world leader in this area, and the learnings gained here may be able to be translated back to the New Zealand healthcare system, facilitating a smoother integration process across the country.
