Seaton Huang is an alumnus of Columbia University (MA Regional Studies - East Asia, 2020), Northeastern University (BA Asian Studies, 2019), and the Fulbright-Hays GPA Fellowship (Xi'an, China, 2018). Seaton's MA thesis employed the theoretical framework of 'structural violence' to assess the social and political risks associated with China's Belt and Road (BRI) in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In his academic career, Seaton has also extensively researched the growing presence of mobile payment platforms in China; China's role in geopolitics; and the contemporary political, social, and cultural landscapes of China and Asia at large.
