After receiving my Fellowship for my Masters degree, I completed a PhD in policy analysis at the University of Auckland. Following this, I worked for the New Zealand Defence Force as a capability analyst, which focused on identifying needs and specifying requirements.During my time with NZDF I published two monographs on the strategic environment. I then moved to NZ Police and shifted my focus to performance measurement. I published several articles on police performance measurement, organisational structures, and risk assessment. I then moved to local government (Auckland Council), focusing on planning and performance measurement. I then took on the role of planning and performance manager at Unitec institute of technology, where my research focus shifted to assessing quality in higher education. I have since returned to Auckland Council, and my research interests now lie heavily in the field of performance accountability.
